FEBRUARY AT ST. PAUL'S
The Season of Epiphany ends this month with Ash Wednesday with the imposition of ashes.  The definition of imposition is an excessive or uncalled-for burden.  But Lent is all about recognizing who takes on this burden.  Even though the ashes are imposed on our foreheads, the world of sin is imposed on our Savior.  What a God we have who gladly takes on our burdens and our brokenness.

Lent will end in Holy Week when we sing

"What language shall I borrow
to thank thee, dearest friend,
for this thy dying sorrow,
thy pity without end?
O make me thine forever;
and should I fainting be,
Lord, let me never, never
outlive my love for thee"

What a God we have!

The ELCA sponsored a video contest around the theme "What Does It Mean To Live Lutheran."  Below is St. Paul's entry.  Written by Sharla DeLawter, Pastor Gary and Wayne Olsen (from an original idea by Wayne), narrated by Mahlon Moore, cinematographed by Wayne, and acted by Pastor Gary.  Watch the  video and find out what it means to us at St. Paul's to live Lutheran.
